Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival 2019Get ready for 9 days of nonstop films, filmmakers, and film lovers at Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival 2019! October 18th through the 26th, 2019 in Hot Springs, AR.

Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival 2019 (HSDFF) marks the 28th annual return of North America’s longest running, non-fiction film festival. Movie Maker Magazine has named it one of “50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” and we agree.

The event, held every October, presents more than 100 of the best, new international documentary shorts and features. A series of special events and parties are included among all the screenings. Best of all, the festival screenings and events are all held within easy walking distance of each other in Historic downtown Hot Springs, AR.

HSDFF has such a warm and friendly reputation that even celebrities and film industry professionals like to attend. Past festivals have seen such luminaries as Werner Herzog, George Takei, Ed Asner, Kathleen Turner, and Barry Bostwick, to name just a few. Even more exciting, many festival events provide an opportunity to mix and mingle with the stars.

The 9-day, all-walk festival, is an Academy-Award-qualifying event in Documentary Short Subjects. In other words, you may very well see a future Oscar winner at the festival. Almost a thousand films from around the world are submitted to the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival jury every year. Only the best are chosen and then, only after a rigorous jury process.

While You’re In Hot Springs

A film festival of this caliber is reason enough to go anywhere – but this one takes place in historic Hot Springs AR!

If you haven’t already, take some time to visit Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs National Park, located right across the street from the festival. Fordyce Bathhouse, alone, is definitely worth your time with its lobby fountain and remarkable stained-glass-and-marble features. It’s also home to the National Park Visitor’s Center and Museum.
