The upcoming, Original Ozark Folk Festival is America’s longest, continuously running folk festival. Ozark Folk Festival 2019 marks the beloved tradition’s 72nd anniversary. Come see what all the fuss is about November 6th through the 10th in Eureka Springs, AR!
Eureka Springs’ Ozark Folk Festival has been an autumn tradition since 1948. The festival is a showcase of folk music mountain music in the Ozark tradition, often performed on handcrafted instruments. You’ll also be treated to big name, national acts, like headliners, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Marty Stuart.
This year’s event includes nearly 30 performances, many of which are free!
Free Concerts, Dancing, and Crafts
One of the biggest perks of Ozark Folk Festival is all the free music.
Eureka Springs’ Basin Springs Park will be the site of free concerts all festival long. It’s also where you’ll hear lots of impromptu jam sessions. You can even join in, if the spirit so moves you! Eureka Springs City Auditorium, aka “The Aud,” hosts the festival’s ticketed headliner shows. Shows will also be held in various venues around town.
It would be a real pity to let all this music go to waste and that’s why the weekend also includes lots of dancing. In fact, the Barefoot Ball may be the biggest event of the festival – but it’s not the only one. You’ll see square dancing and clogging demonstrations throughout the weekend, and you might even go ahead and do a few steps, yourself.
Ozark folk tradition is much more than song and dance, however. The festival reflects this with a collection of artisans and craftspeople displaying their unique, handcrafted treasures for purchase. Peruse their stunning handiwork and maybe even grab a gift or two for yourself or the upcoming holidays.
Other attractions through the weekend include the Folk Festival Queen Contest, Singer/Songwriter Contest, and Folk Festival Parade. Don’t miss out!
